My a/c and heater turns off and on, on its own. I have an 98 Oldsmobile. When it is off it leaks cold or hot air. I was told it was a relay switch but want an second opinion first.

  1. no when its cut off the main switch should turn the relay switch off so that should cancel it from working id say you have bad main control switch on it,you can have the relay checked though because they have been known to stick sometimes and do that, but id also have the main control switch checked on it,good luck.

  2. (RELAY:) A switch which automatically opens and/or closes a ciruit. If it 's not you relay then it most be the control switch . When you turn off the a/c or heater you most turn the blower fan switch off has well, if you don't turn it off the power is still on, so make sure that your turning the blower off each time that you turn the a/c off.

  3. AC is separate from the fan which is acting up?  I'm assuming the fan find out if there is a difference in high or all the other settings if there is I would look towards the blower motor resistor.  It sounds like you possibly have a loose connection though.
