  1. First of all, you need to see a doc for a full evaluation.  It sounds like you are having muscle spasms, but it may also be something else.  You likely need Physical Therapy, a muscle relaxant and a good anti-inflammatory to help heal the area.  you can start taking motrin or aleve to see if that helps, try some good back stretches- when and if the pain level goes down, use a heating pad to help warm up the muscles and loosen them up.

If those things do not help, I repeat, you need to see your doctor about possible causes.

You didn't say when it started or how long you have had it, what you were doing when it started, etc, so this is a best guess.

  2. You could have strained it by lifting something or even having disc problems. You can put your back out with something as simple as turning around  and bending down an lifting up a clothes pin.  If it keeps up see a Dr.  Lower Back Pain is one of the most common problem that people have.

  3. I think you just pulled a muscle in your back, any over-the-counter lotion that relieves muscles should work, ask your pharmacist and be sure to get plenty of sleep.

    Good Luck!

  4. Hi Kim,

It sounds to me that you have disc degenerative of the spine. That is severe pain in the lower back and the pain is all the time. I would try so advil or tylenol for arthritis and put the heating pad on.

  5. I have that same problem and I'm sorry to say that I don't know what it is. I have arthritis in my thoracic and cervical spine, but the lower back pain feels different. I'm seeing my doctor on Monday and I would suggest you make an appt. with yours too. There's just too many possible causes to be answered here.
