  1. its hard to help you by a message,

its best to show some one,

    but ill try to explain.

sit on the edge of the chair with your feet on the floor,  make sure your sitting straight , roll your hips forward and back, repeat a few times,

then when you do this you will feel a position that you feel comfortable in, you have to do it a few times thou to get use to it, its getting that neutral spine, do the same standing, that's more difficult but worth it,

i will advise you to try at this , because I'm only 20 and now suffer sciatica, and that's more common in older older people,

    my gp is shocked,

its so pain full, and its sort of caused by the way i stand, i tend to stand with my front leaning over my feet, completely wrong way to stand,

    hope this helps ;)

  2. Posture is simply a habit.  It takes behavioral change to change it and you cannot "strengthen" someone to good posture....for instance, I've had some people as patients who have very strong muscles in their back, but they slouch.

    My suggestions are often these:

    1. About every hour, take yourself through 10 repetitions of "slouch/correct." Allow yourself to slouch completely, but then "overcorrect" it

    2. Set a watch to beep at a certain interval. When it beeps, check your posture.

    3. Use a "lumbar roll" in your chair

    4. Activities such as ballet and yoga focus on posture during their techniques...this may help you be more conscientous of your posture

...don't waste your money on an orthopedist, simple "bad posture" is non-pathological...in otherwords, tissue is normal, but the habit needs to change.

  3. Depending on your age and general health you might want to start with a complete physical.  Once you've been cleared of any health concerns, try a yoga class.  It doesn't have to be one of those power yoga classes where you sweat buckets.  But yoga is wonderful for alignment and flexibility.  You will learn how to stand and walk correctly, and you'll learn how to catch yourself when you're slouching (like at your computer, for instance, or in the car).

  4. Go to a orthopedic and let him evaluate you so you know what the problem is. He might advise physical therapy to help correct the problem.
