Bad copies

Question

Hello, I have an old xerox 5309 copier, which I inherited. I.m experiencing two problems with it. First, when I press to copy the paper jams and I a "P" message comes in the screen. I press the copy button again and it works. It does so intermittently. the second problem is the copies come out two dark even at the lowest setting . Please advise.
