Bad experience with ebay seller ?

I bid on this item that the seller had listed. I thought it is weird that he had no feedback as a buyer or seller and he had just joined 2 days prior. but every one starts somewhere. Well the item ended early due to some problem with his pay pal account and I was the winner. I was checking out when I was read an error saying this THIS SELLER CAN NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT THROUGH PAY PAL AT THIS TIME.I figured that had something to do with his problem. He sent me another email address to make payment through another pay pal account.

When I got the item it was an illegal bootleg copy on the DVD I thought I had purchased for $45. It all made sense..... This probably wasn't the first time he had done this. I think he created multiple accounts with pay pal and ebay to sell bootlegs. Anyways I sent him a email saying I want my money back but no answer. I filed a report with ebay and left him bad feedback. Then I get an email from ebay saying that the item has been removed and I was no longer obligated to pay..... a little late huh?

I opened a claim with pay pal. I'm sure he is long gone. is it possible to get my money back even if he cant be reached and if so do I keep the item.

Never buy from a buyer with 0 feedback and just listed unless you can call him and get him directly

You should be ok since you paid with paypal and have disputed it.

File your grievance with PayPal, no matter what.  It might be possible to get a refund since the item was not even close to as described.  It takes about 30 days, though, so be patient.  Definitely make a report about this guy to eBay, too - they will watch for his IP address, regardless of what names he tries to set up under.  He's probably using more than one computer to do it, but eventually, if enough disgruntled buyers file against him, they'll get 'em all, and he'll be banned from the site.
