Question:

Bad ground on a car amplifier?

Can a bad ground cause my amplifier to not perform as well? I have to turn the gain nearly all the way up to get sound out of my subwoofer. The RCAs come from an aftermarket deck and everything else seems to be hooked up right. The power wire is 5 gauge and ground cable is 4 gauge (I don't think that would make a difference). I'm running a single 12" alpine type r (DVC 4ohm) with an xtant a6001 amp at a 2ohm load.

  1. it would be a good idea to have the same power and ground gage. It could be a bad ground or not enough power from the amp.
