Hello,

It started a few weeks ago, that any time i exert myself in any way, I seem to get severe headaches that sometimes cause me to have lay down for a while at work and such. Is there any reason for this? My doctor just told me to take Advil when it happens, but no pain pills seem to work. I am 6' 1" 193 LBS so i don't think it is because i am overweight. Can someone please tell me why this is, and/or what i can do?

  1. Try: Aleve, Advil, or Excedrin Migraine... I also get migraines and headaches...  try to switch up the pill that you take, otherwise your body starts to build up tolerance to the chemicals in the pills. Excedrin Migraine works the best for me.

  2. You need to see another doctor, or get a better explanation from the first one.

  3. you might have a pinched nerve that results in a headache -- i used to get those! -- they went away when i rested it!-- also take like advil and stuff

  4. If it was a sudden onset, then please go get yourself an MRI- just to eliminate any potentially damaging future problems

  5. sounds like migraines. migraine pain can be disabiling. go to another doctor if you're not being taken seriously.

  6. Any chance a cell phone tower went up in the area a few weeks ago and you are simply reacting to the increased radiation? Also, do you use a cell phone/cordless phone?

    You could be electrosensitive.

  7. Okay here's the lowdown on headache red flags:

    Consult a neurologist if

    a) the pain is worst upon getting up

    b) the pain has been increasing in intensity

    c) you feel nausea and vomiting

Otherwise... it is hard to give advice unless I know the specific area of the headache and the nature of the pain.  I could recommend muscle relaxants and/or acupuncture but I cannot really be definitive.
