Question:

Bad memory loss news for vegans?

Apparently, if your levels of HDL (good cholesterol) are low this can lead to memory loss. See the reports in a web search for "low hdl" + "memory loss".

If these reports are to be believed, what should a vegan do to minimise memory loss in the future?

  1. Are you kidding?

The body makes its own good cholesterol via the liver.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about and you didn't even provide an actual source.

The American Dietetic Association states that HDL can be increased through exercise and staying at a healthy weight.

They also state, "a diet that’s high in soluble fiber with moderate amounts of unsaturated fats and low in saturated fat and cholesterol—can make a difference and can help reduce LDL levels."

Where does it state that HDL is part of an omnivorous diet?

LOL, do you think that vegan people don't care about our health? I'm afraid that we would hear such a thing before you if it was true.

  2. This may seem off topic, but since when was FISH OIL vegan!?

  3. A good rule of thumb with the many bogus medical reports being tossed around today is never, ever believe any that contain the words "may', "can' "lead to", "linked to", "risk", etc.

This just means they're playing with numbers and don't know as much as they're pretending.

If the report ever says "proven to be caused by" this one might be worth remembering.

    But they never say that.

  4. Don't worry about it, our livers produce all the (HDL) good cholesterol we will ever need.
