Bad performance ruins opening round for Caroline Hedwall and s**+ Hyun Park
Caroline Hedwall’s first round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open did not go as expected. The defending champion fell all the way down to the 47th position, with a score of 76 on the first day of the championship.
The Swedish professional golfer carded a bogey on the first hole and on the next hole, Hedwall struck a par. The next two holes were birdies, which came through on the 3rd and the 4th hole.
Just when it seemed like things were back to normal for the 23-year-old, she played a disastrous hole that consequently finished on a double bogey.
Hedwall parred the 6th hole that followed a bogey. A final glimmer of hope, in the form of a birdie, came on the 8th hole for the Swede.
After the 8th hole, everything started going against the defending champion. The Ladies European Tour Player of the Year showed no signs of improving her stats, because all went downhill for Hedwall till the end of the day.
On the other hand, s**+ Hyun Park, the professional Korean golfer, registered herself way down the leaderboard after a horrid performance in the first round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
The 23-year-old started her tournament with a double bogey. The first hole was the worst of all, but there was nothing throughout the round to praise the right-handed Korean.
Park made a series of pars and bogeys throughout the opening day.
The Korean professional took four swings to par on the second hole. Besides this, the 3rd hole was a bogey, while the 4th and 5th holes played by her were pars.
The rest of the day on the course for the Korean was disappointing, as nothing but pars and bogeys were registered.
Park had one of those days on the Indian golf course that she would like to forget. Moreover, in order to have any success in the next rounds of the tournament, she will have to put up a better show.
However, without a doubt, Park and Hedwall are capable of a surprise comeback. They might just steal the show in the upcoming rounds.
