Question:

Bad tattoo job, can it be fixed?

I got a tattoo on my wrist of my daughters initials and birth date. I went to an artist who I wasn't familiar with and now am paying the price for my haste, he did a crappy, CRAPPY job. Luckily it's not that big and I want it fixed or removed. I'd rather try fixing it first but is that even possible? It's red and the initials read ASG but it looks like A-S-S because of the type of font used. Also, the numbers look like he did it sloppily free handed and he didn't do this tattoo free handed.

I just want it fixed. Help.

  1. This time you will need to put in the effort and time to research someone who better than just 'ok' or even 'good'. It's not impossible and it may take a little while but hey if you spend the time doing it, it'll pay off.

It's not impossible to get it fixed, you just need someone who knows what they're doing! Get a consultation, weigh your options and carefully think what will be the best decision to make.

    Goodluck

  2. Go to a good tattoo artist.

    This time, do your research.

Go to the shop, look at their portfolios, ask friends and family members were their prefered tattooists are located.

Once you find a good one, go to the shop telling them you want to get it fixed anyway possible. Theyll probably redo it in black ink and make it slightly bigger than it is now in order to get it looking good.

Suggest things that would look good ( perhaps changing the intials so its inside, or becomes an object, flower, or animal).

Maybe youd be interested in tattoos that can be read both ways.

Either way, find a GOOD artist and let them know and take the next step from there.

  3. you need to have a consultation with a real professional.

  4. It can totally be fixed. Go to an artist you are familliar with and let him or her help!

  5. i would ask around and find a tattoo artist who is well known and good, and have him/her look at it, i cant see it so i cant tell you if it can be fixed but i know it can be covered, but just ask and see what you can get done to it.

  6. we get walk ins like this all the time... its an easy fix if you have a good artist...

  7. i also have a really bad tattoo on my wrist on the top so everyone can see it lol i got mine done at a house not by a professional bad idea!! anyways its soooo dark that some tattoo artist say they cant cover it and then others say they can work around it take it to someone who has a good imagination and will make it look sick in the end good luck!

  8. Black covers red just great.

  9. Try asking other people you know who have tattoos to suggest a good place/artist for you to go to. You can also try the phone book, of course. Call them on the phone, or even better, go to their shop and meet them personally. Explain what happened and ask what they would do to fix it. A really good artist will appreciate the challenge of another artist's mistakes and try to do their best to make you happy with their work. If the shop is really busy and you have to wait a long time to talk to someone, go somewhere else. You want someone who has the time and is willing to be one on one with you, not just treat you like another easy $50.

I have never had a tattoo removed, but I have heard that removing them with laser surgery is more painful than getting the tattoo done in the first place, so in my opinion you'd be best off to find a good artist that can fix the problem. It will help the artist if you draw them a picture of what you want, or use as many words as you can to describe what you do and dont want and have them draw it for you on a piece of paper first. Most artists charge a fee for this, since you are still taking some of their time, but it's better to pay them to draw you a "preview" of any custom work and then see if you like their idea or not before you commit to having it on your body forever.

Good luck, I hope this helps

  10. Flowers are wonderful, varied, and beautiful. They can cover successfully a myriad of things that you do not want to see. On the wrist use a fine line needle, pick a pretty detailed center on a flower that will cover the initials, and use color and shading to do so. Without seeing it, I am guessing, but I bet a rose or peony, would work, and possibly a sprig of blossoms (maybe pink cherry blossoms with a bit of black branch?)

Otherwise, is there something of your daughters that is special to her that the image of could be placed over the letters? Like a bird? Go for something pretty, and turn this into a 'happy accident'

good luck, it will turn out fine.

  11. If you can find a decent artist a cover up is not a problem, I am sure they can fix it, you may need to go a little bigger, and darker, but it's got to look better than what you have now, poor you, it's awful when something doesn't go well.

  12. Go check out some other tattoo studios that you know of. Get to know the artist before hand, and ask to see their portfolio. A good artist will be able to fix your tattoo.

I'm terribly sorry that someone messed it up. Unfortunately, those things happen sometimes.

Don't settle for a cheap tattoo, either. Cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap.
