Question:

Bad weather advice?

We had a tornado warning last night and realized how unprepared we actually were. The power was out for like 3 hours and we had no working radio except for an mp3 player that only had an FM tuner, So it took a little while to hear a weather report. So my boyfriend says were going to get a weather radio or something, that will sound an alarm for bad weather. Any suggestions or advice for buying one of those would be great, like what to look for and stuff. We have a storm cellar but we haven't been down there yet, its completely empty at the moment, any suggestions on what we should put in there? We have an old table we were thinking of putting down there and maybe some folding chairs or something and some bottles of water. I'm not really claustrophobic or anything but i think the idea of going down there scares me more than the tornado warnings. I dunno, this is kinda a little vent but any stormy weather advice would be greatly appreciated! ~Thanks

  1. Any good weather radio sold at wal-mart would be fine. As for what to put in the storm cellar: water, dried food (like peanuts, nothing perishable) a portable, battery operated radio, some flashlights, and maybe a few blankets and pillows.

  2. After living in Oklahoma my whole life for a shelter i would suggest the table and chairs, blankets, water, a weather radio/radio w/ batteries, flashlights, candles, if you have pets keep and extra carrier to put them in plus some food for them and a portable water dish, as well as MRE's or other long lasting food for yourselves just incase you get trapped in there but if anyone knows you have a shelter then you shouldn't worry to much about that because they would be looking for you. I'm sure you can google a list of some sort for a tornado shelter.

  3. bring food that doesnt need to be cooked like those little viena sausages, bread, crackers,

a flashlight, maybe some mattresses, pillows cell phone, any medical supplies, extra batteries, and don't forgot faith and hope that everything will be just fine
