Hi,
I recently bought a new apartment where an old door has been blocked up with plasterboard. You can see that the blocked up door isn't completely level with the surrounding wall in the living room.

In the bedroom, the decision was made to take the wall out about 2 inches as seen in the pictures - only half of the wall is extended out. The only reason this was done as far as I can see is to cover up two small holes in the old floor where the sill extended out - again this hole can be seen in the pictures. I don't understand why this hole wasn't simple filled in. Might there be another reason why the wall was extended out?
If I simply wanted to smooth the wall out in the living room and leave the bedroom as it is, what would I need to do to the wall?
On the other hand, what might make it difficult to redo the blocking up of the wall from scratch again?
Thanks for your help,
Barry
