Badminton Asia Championships: Chen Jin beats Wei Feng Chong in Men’s Singles first round encounter
Chen Jin, the in-form shuttler from China, found a superb start at home where he slaughters Malaysia’s Wei Feng Chong in Men’s Singles first round encounter at the Badminton Asia Championships 2012 on Tuesday, April 17, in China.
Jin, who is currently World Number 5 and third seed in the Asia Championships, played tremendous game and cheered his home fans by beating his Malaysian rival in 41 minutes.
The higher ranked Chinese was impressive in his game plan as he did not let Wei Feng to dominate the pace at any stage and ended the match in straight games with a comprehensive score on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Wei Feng could not create pressure on his local challenger and crashed out without taking any game.
The starting points of the opening game were thrilling when both men showed their spirited play.
Wei Feng showed impressive display by matching the speed of his Chinese opponent and remained equal until the score reached at 6-6.
Jin geared up his speed and reached at 9-6 but failed to maintain his lead as Wei Feng levelled the score. Until the break, both shuttlers were progressing with an equal pace.
After the mid-game interval, Jin changed his tactics and started to push his opponent into the corners of rear-court area by executing powerful drives.
The higher ranked Chinese played with aggression in the concluding half and ended the game with a 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Jin played with aggression and precision while remaining focused. He did not show any sign of mercy for his opponent by playing attacking badminton.
Until the end of opening half, Jin was in quite comfortable position in the game as he took a comfortable lead of 11-6.
After the break, Jin remained in complete control as he dictated Wei Feng in all corners of the court and maintained his supremacy in the court. He ended the second set with a killing margin of 21-9.
Jin easily won this Men’s Singles first round battle in 41 minutes with a comprehensive 21-14 and 21-9 margin on the board.
