China’s mega star Lin Dan showed his incredible craft and surged into Men’s Singles round-of-16 after toppling Chao Huang of Singapore in the second round of Badminton Asia Championships 2012 in China, on Wednesday, April 18.
Lin Dan, who is top seeded player in this home event, showed his mental strength when he remained quite relaxed and played beautiful shots without taking even a slight pressure of being a seeded player.
The World Number 2 Lin tested all of his shots in all areas of the court and won the battle in two games with a decent score on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Singaporean gave a good fight to his higher ranked challenger in both games but failed to finish it well and lost the fight with a respectable margin.
In the first set, Huang played surprising badminton when he matched the speed and aggression of Lin who is considered the most attacking player in the world of badminton.
Both men played well and remained close as no one could take a strong position until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Lin played at the same speed and kept on testing his shots without taking any pressure at all.
The score reached at 15-15 when Lin geared up his speed and did not take much time in finishing the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game, Huang again played remarkable badminton against the ruling Olympic and World Champion and remained close to him in the opening half.
In the meanwhile, Lin remained calm in the court and did not show any sign of urgency. Until the break, both men were progressing closely on the board.
After the one-minute interval, they continued playing in the similar manner and the score reached at 14-14 when Lin showed aggression and took over the control.
The Chinese played attacking badminton at this stage and bagged the set with a decent 21-18 margin on the score board.
