Badminton Asia Championships: Sun Yu ousts Shih Han Hung in Women’s Singles qualifying round
China’s young player Sun Yu continued her positive performance in Women’s Singles qualifying round when she ousted the local shuttler Shih Han Hung at the Badminton Asia Championships 2013 in Chinese Taipei, on Tuesday, April 16.
The in-form Sun, who was seeded at number two in Women’s Singles qualifying round of the tournament, continued her impressive winning streak and easily gave a severe lesson to Shih Han in just 39 minutes.
Chinese shuttler played with incredible speed and confidence and maintained the pace of rallies at the highest level. She remained in comfortable position all the way and ended up the match in straight sets with a dominating 21-11 and 21-18 score on the
board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Shih Han failed to respond to her home fans as she could not produce better form at any stage in the match and lost to Sun without even getting close.
Sun showed an amazing aggression in the arena from the initial points of first set by creating a remarkable pressure on her opponent.
Sun proved that she has got top class skills in the arena and eventually successful in taking a strong position in the arena.
It was the higher ranked Sun who showed no respect to her spirited rival in the starting half and clinched a superb lead in the game.
After the one-minute break, the in-form Chinese shuttler stayed fully focused in the arena and remained successful in maintaining a comfortable lead.
The positive and aggressive play of Sun assisted her to secure the first game with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
In the second game, Sun played with comfortable speed without sparing any chance for Shih Han to find a good flow.
However, the local player lifted up her level of play and managed to stay close to her Chinese challenger until the end of opening half.
After the break, the second seeded Sun played better badminton and started to control the affairs. She played aggressive and positive badminton and remained successful in winning the set with a reasonable 21-18 margin on score board.
