Badminton Asia Championships: Wang Yihan hammers Bae Youn Joo in Women’s Singles round-of-16
China’s best female shuttler Wang Yihan showed her amazing skills in the Women’s Singles round-of-16 contest when she hammered Korea’s Bae Youn Joo at the Badminton Asia Championships 2012 in China, on Thursday, April 19.
Yihan is currently World Number One and also has been placed at the top in Women’s Singles seeding in Asia Championships. She displayed impressive performance and cheered her home fans by winning the contest in a fabulous fashion.
The top seed proved her superiority by showing her hard-to-learn skills against the World Number 12 Youn Joo and won the contest to find a place in the top-eight.
On the other hand, Youn Joo failed to prove her worth as she could not play well against her higher ranked Chinese rival and crashes out without taking benefit from her superb craft.
In the opening game, both ladies entertained the local crowd by showing impressive skills and also snapped each other’s heel throughout the opening half.
However, none of them took a comfortable lead until the one-minute break in the opening set.
After the break, Yihan showed aggression as she started to push her opponent in rear-court area by playing attacking clears and also played superb game at net.
The planned and positive play of Yihan helped her to take the opening set with an impressive margin of 21-18.
In the second set, Youn Joo tried to play her normal game but failed to break the rhythm of Yihan at any stage of the game and remained struggling.
In the meanwhile, Yihan maintained her positive run in the opening half of second set and managed a reasonable gap until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the top seeded Chinese continued dominating the pace of rallies and remained in full control as her opponent was not responding well.
Yihan remained on track without facing a threatening resistance at any stage in the ending part of second game and took it with a remarkable 21-16 margin on the score board.
The impressive Chinese won this pre-quarter-final battle in straight sets of 49 minutes with a remarkable margin of 21-18 and 21-16.
