Badminton Asia Championships: Yanjiao Jiang ousts Tzu Ying Tai at Women’s Singles round-of-16 stage
China’s Yanjiao Jiang continues her impressive run as she reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after taming Tzu Ying Tai in the round-of-16 stage in Badminton Asia Championships 2012 at Qingdao, China, on Thursday, April 19.
The World Number 6 Yanjiao played with precision and toppled Tzu Ying in a spectacular fashion as she did not drop any set and wrapped up the fight with a considerable ease.
The higher ranked Chinese made her home fans happy by playing positive and killing badminton and ended the fight in two sets by taking 43 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Tzu Ying played competitive badminton in opening parts of both games but failed to prove her worth in ending points and lost the match without stretching her rival to rubber games.
Yanjiao got a positive start in the opening points as she played with precision and remained successful in taking a reasonable lead on the board.
In the meanwhile, Tzu Ying also played aggressive badminton and managed to remain close to Yanjiao on the board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Yanjiao occupied the driving seat by playing fast badminton as she played with precision and managed to remain in commanding position.
The sixth seeded Chinese remained on course and bagged the opening set in a tremendous manner by a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second set, Yanjiao was impressive in the execution of powerful smashes. She was quicker in making room and placed her strokes in right areas.
Yanjiao continued snapping her opponent’s heel and managed to establish a reasonable lead on the board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Tzu Ying played better badminton and remained slightly behind her higher ranked rival in the court.
In the concluding phase of second set, Yanjiao played with aggression as she did not miss any chance in the court and ended the game with a decent 21-18 margin on the score board.
The in-form Yanjiao remained successful in ending this pre-quarter-final contest in straight games by taking 43 minutes with a reasonable margin of 21-18 and 21-18.
