Badminton Asia Championships: Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei penetrate into Mixed Doubles final
China’s World Number One shuttler Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei continued their winning run at the Badminton Asia Championships as they penetrated into Mixed Doubles final.
In the semi-final showdown, Nan and Yunlei worked really hard and eventually overpowered Korea’s Sa Rang Kim and Hye In Choi in three games.
The top seeded shuttlers Nan and Yunlei had to dig into their arsenal to prove their supremacy over their lower ranked Korean rivals and advanced into the title match.
Nan and Yunlei consumed 53 minutes in the court to prove their worth against the spirited Koreans who were un-seeded in Mixed Doubles draw of the championship.
The start of the match was favourable for the local shuttlers who took an early lead without facing any considerable resistance from their lower ranked rivals.
Nan and Yunlei played dominating game in the opening rallies as they did not miss any chance to take charge of rallies and managed a good lead until the 60-second break.
After the interval, the Chinese couple continued playing in the similar aggressive fashion and bagged the opening game with a tremendous 21-13 margin on the score board.
In the second set, Nan and Yunlei could not continue their positive run in the game as they lost their control over the pace.
They remained struggling against the Koreans who were impressive in this game.
Until the one-minute break, the Koreans managed to set up a remarkable lead against Nan and Yunlei.
After the break, Nan and Yunlei tried to break the flow of their opponents but failed to dominate the pace and lost the set with a one-sided score of 12-21.
In the deciding game, Nan and Yunlei became quick at net and also dominate the pace by working well in rear-court area.
The top seeds played with aggression and established a comfortable gap until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Nan and Yunlei continued their killing run without showing any mercy to their rivals and eventually bagged the third set with a 21-13 score on the board.
Nan and Yunlei won this Mixed Doubles semi-final battle in 53 minutes with a thrilling score of 21-13, 12-21 and 21-13.
