Badminton Asia Youth Under 19 Mixed Team Championships: Joo Ven Soong narrowly beats Sameer Verma
Joo Ven Soong, a spirited young shuttler, proved that Malaysia has not gone short of talent when he put up staggering show of elite badminton and overpowered India’s Sameer Verma in Men’s Singles contest at the Badminton Asia Youth Under 19 Championships

Malaysian won this mixed team-event clash against India after a nail-biting fight with a narrow score of 3-2.
The talented Malaysian employed all of his reserves to knock out his Indian rival in a convincing fashion after contesting really hard for 49 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the talented Indian employed all of his skills and also took a game from his Malaysian rival but failed to maintain his speed in deciding game and bowed to Joo Ven in hard-fought rubber games.
The first set was interesting when both boys showed their elite skills by keeping the pace high. They took the bird early from all areas and did not miss any chance to execute jumping smashes.
Until the end of opening part of first set, it was Joo Ven who was progressing ahead on the score board.
Joo Ven geared up his speed after the break in opening game and controlled the pace of rallies while putting up wonderful show of flawless badminton at net. He managed to bag the opening game with a four-point difference of 21-17.
However, the real show was yet to come as the Indian shuttler showed his class in the second game and denied his Malaysian rival any lead until the one-minute interval.
Both shuttlers continued their spirited display of attacking shots after the break, and reached at 20-20 when Joo Ven made a wrong choice of shots and eventually lost the set with a 20-22 score on the board.
Stung by the loss of second game, Joo Ven became furious in the court and played with aggression. He took an easy advantage by setting up a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, the Malaysian continued putting up thrashing show and wrapped up the deciding game with a one-sided margin of 21-10.
Joo Ven overpowered Sameer in three games with an entertaining 21-17, 20-22 and 21-10 score on the board.
