  1. why in volleyball?

  2. Badminton is not something that you can improve overnight, so be patient. As long as you are working hard with your coach, you are good.

I think it took me a whole summer to get into the game, and understand how each trick should be played, before getting myself more confident into tournaments. It would still be very frustrating when playing against someone at a higher level. We have a guy at his 60's in our local gym, collecting $2 from every player every night (so you thought he could be just a door man, right... he is good playing)... and beating youngsters at their 30's without even sweating.

See whether you can find any DVD or online (YouTube) stuff to watch so that you get to see some more details and tricks. Find yourself a good racket would definitely help. Practice your stroke from end to end and from corner to corner, as well at the net. Remember footwork is more important than anything else.

By the way, you posted your question in a wrong section so that you might not be able to find enough good answers as you expected.

  3. I can try to explain it to you but it would take too long.If you are familiar with facebook and you haven't join it as yet do so now. Then seach for the group addicted to badminton. There are some fantastic tips and video clippings there to help with all aspect of your game.

Be patient the smashes and drop shots would come with practise.
