Badou Jack to defend his undefeated win streak against unbeaten Alexander Brand – Boxing News
Badou Jack, the surging young Swedish light heavyweight, will enter the ring to defend his undefeated win streak against the more experienced Colombian proud Alexander Brand, the current WBC Latino super middleweight champion, in an eight-round bout which
will be held on Friday May 11, 2012.
The duo will co-headline the pay-per-view televised live on Showbox channel’s weekly boxing show ShoBox: The New Generation which is being promoted by Warriors Boxing.
The pay-per-view is being named as ‘Shootout at Texas Station’ and the ring for the event will be setup at Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
The Friday night showdown is being headlined by the non-title 10-round bout between Yudel Jhonson and Willie Nelson. Jack, 28, has been in a total 10 bouts and emerged victorious in all.
He has never lost even a single bout and has nailed eight of his opponents by knocking them out cold. The Swedish orthodox, also known as ‘The Ripper’, is coming from an impressive unanimous decision win over Grover Young.
Jack has not fought many men with hefty experience. The only man who overshadowed Badou by his experience was Adam Collins and Jack successfully knocked him out in the sixth round.
His Friday night opponent Alexander is the first man who outclasses Jack substantially by experience. Jack has never fought a man with this much big resume which boasts 17 wins in a total 17 bouts.
The Colombian proud will also defend his invincible streak and will try his level best to nail Jack in the early rounds since he has built himself quite a reputation of being the knockout specialist.
Brand has nailed 15 of his opponents by sheer knockout and currently holds the WBC Latino super middleweight gold, a title which he grabbed from Gerardo Diaz after knocking him down in the sixth round.
During the recent media interaction, Jack despite the fact that his opponents has a flawless resume, did not lose his cool and confidently stated, “I feel great and I want to thank them for this opportunity. He seems like a strong guy. I give him a lot of
props for taking this fight against me but his 0 has got to go. I am looking forward to the fight and whatever my opponent is bringing. I hope he comes to fight so we can give the fans a good fight.”
The bout will rattle the whole arena as both pugilists have their respective undefeated streaks on the line in fact the odds are 60-70 percent in favour of Alexander only because he has the huge experience and knockout advantage on his side. A win by Jack
over Brand will definitely boost the 28-year-old Swedish up in the world rankings and will enable him to catch media’s due attention.
