The Bayern Munich defender has criticised the referee’s decision to book him against Los Blancos in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.
Bayern Munich defender, Holger Badstuber, has criticised match referee Viktor Kassai for showing him the yellow card in the opening 13 minutes against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. The booking means that the left
back will not be able to play any part in the final against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and instead need to sit in the stands and watch his mates playing.
Badstuber was booked for a tackle on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 in a game which Bayern lost 2-1 on the night. However, both sides finished level on aggregate which forced the game into the extra time and then the penalty shootouts. The Reds
emerged victorious from the spot booking their berth into the final alongside Chelsea.
The defender mentioned that he hardly fouls anyone irrespective of any competition and the referee must have taken a lenient stance to the situation. He thought that Kassai could have kept his card in his pocket as it was not a
dangerous foul and expressed his frustration at having to miss the final at Bayern’s home soil.
While talking to Sport 1, the 23-year-old further added: "I would have expected a bit more sensitivity from him at the players who were treading on thin ice prior to the second legs. I have not committed a lot of fouls previously,
and in that phase of play [when I was yellow carded] it was not so clear, so I was disappointed when he showed me yellow.”
On the other hand, he also slammed UEFA’s policy of banning players. He mused that the final will miss the flare as the opposition also has three of its key players suspended for the showdown.
"I think the rule with suspensions being valid in the final is also stupid as Chelsea also miss a number of important players. It will be particularly galling when I go to the Allianz Arena on May 19 to sit in the stands, but right
now the joy outweighs my personal disappointment at the Santiago Bernabeu,” Badstuber concluded.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international is one of the six players from both sides set to miss the final on May 19 in Munich.
