Bae Sang-moon buoyant about his chances at Maekyung Open: OneAsia News
2011 Maekyung Open, which will be played under the auspicious ambit of OneAsia, will tee off from tomorrow. The four-day tournament will be played on the par-72, Nam Seoul Country Club in South Korea. This event carries total prize money of US$1 million.
The youngster Bae Sang-moon will tee off with high hopes on his shoulders. He has won this tournament in 2009. Sang-moon was victorious two years back when he won in a play-off against Ted Oh.
The 24-year-old has not been in great form recently. It has been two years since he enjoyed a victory. The youngster has a total of three wins on Asian tour and is confident of improving this record. It will certainly be a test for the youngster once
he plays against a star studded field.
The local lad, Kim Dae-hyun, will once again be looking for title defence this year. Last year, he won this 72-hole championship by a good margin of four strokes against his nearest opponent Kim Kyung-tae.
Dae-hyun played some great golf during all the four days and finished having a total score of eighteen-under par, 270. He was in great form last year and is hoping for a repeat performance this year also. It will be a challenge for the youngster who
looks upbeat about his chances of successfully defending his title this year.
The lay-out of the course this year is an undulating one and it will be a daunting task for Bae to win this year. He still cherishes a good memory when the youngster played like a champion two years back.
Bae recently failed to make it through the cut-line score at Ballantine’s Open which held last week. Now, he has high hopes and is confident of showing some great golf over four days of the championship.

Bae after playing the practice round before the tournament said, “Last week my putting was not very good, but I like this course. The course is very narrow and the greens are fast. But I like the course, when I play this course my confidence is very high.”
said Bae, who finished 11th last year en route to a fourth place finish on the 2010 OneAsia Order of Merit.
Last year, Bae finished at the fourth spot on the OneAsia Order of Merit.
New Zealander, Michael Hendry, is also competing in this event. Last year, Hendry won the Indonesia Open and enjoyed his form during the past season. Once again, Hendry is hoping to regain his form by winning this championship.
Andre Stolz of Australia is also among the players competing for the championship. The 40-year-old won the Indonesia PGA Championship this year and is in great form these days. He is hitting the ball well and is confident of his chances in this tournament. First
round of the championship will tee off from tomorrow.
