http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 were undone by an impressive Paris Saint-Germain side at the weekend but the Lyon striker is remaining positive despite the defeat and has called for more focus from the Rhone giants
A fine strike by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Blaise-Matuidi-c7681, was enough to send the oil-money-club from Paris to the summit. The defeat was described as cruel by Bafetimbi Gomis, who is of the view that Les Gones did well and they deserved something out of Sunday’s
game.
The France international, who failed to increase his impressive goal tally in the Ligue 1 at Parc des Princes, feels that Lyon did pretty well on the pitch and the defeat is harsh on Remi Garde’s side. While talking to reporters, the 27-year-old stated that
despite the defeat, Lyon showed what they are capable of, and their Sunday’s performance is a proof that the Rhone giants can rival Paris Saint-Germain for the Championelle this season.
The Frenchman added that there are a lot of positives to be taken from the game and had they been little luckier that day, the result would have been different.
"We are in our proper place and showed that we can compete with PSG," he told L'Equipe. "There are lots of positives to take from the game.”
Talking about Blaise Matuidi’s goal in the dying moment of the first half, Gomis said that Lyon should have done better in that situation. The former Saint-Etienne player said that Lyon took their guard off at that moment and PSG punished them for that.
"We should have done better in the three-on-two which led to the Parisian goal,” said the Lyon striker.
The 27-year-old added that Olympique Lyonnais weren’t helped either by a number of decisions in the match against Paris Saint-Germain that went against them. The France international said that the referee should have awarded Les Gones a penalty when Mamadou
Sakho fouled him in the box, and had the referee taken that decision, the result would have been different.
“And also, the referee should have given a penalty when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mamadou-Sakho-c23293 slipped and fell on me before I could play the ball."
