Baffert’s duo Game on Dude, The Factor worked at the Meydan while Bill Mott sent Royal Delta for a stretch as well
Bob Baffert took time for his older stars, after managing a huge 3-year-old string in his barn at the time of the Kentucky Derby. He has two main contenders at the Meydan for the Dubai World Cup Night. The likes of Game on Dude, and The Factor will take
on their respective races at the Meydan on 31 March, 2012.
The 5-year-old gelding, Game on Dude, made his successful debut of the new campaign when he downed the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita Park over a distance of 1 1/8 miles on 5 February, 2012, defeating Uh Oh Bango in second and Victory Pete in
third, while covering the distance in 1 minute and 46.88 seconds.
Game On Dude capped off his 2011 season with a strong second place finish in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic to winner, Drosselmeyer. He is now at the Meydan preparing for his all important start in the Group 1, $10 million Dubai World Cup at about 1 ¼
miles over the synthetic surface.
The gelded son of Awesome Again turned in a work of four furlongs ahead of the race, which he covered in 48 2/5 seconds on 26 March, 2012, at the Dubai race course.
It was a Tapeta work for Game on Dude, and with his The Factor, who is pointed toward the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen, which is a highly pursed sprint for the Baffert sprinter.
The Factor will be against an elite lineup of sprinters, and Baffert wanted him and Game on Dude to stretch their legs before their big races, and get the feel of the Tapeta track, said Tim Yakteen, who is a former Baffert assistant.
“Both of them are ready,” said Tim Yakteen. “Bob wanted them to get a feel and stretch their legs a bit. All thumbs up.”
Bill Mott trained, Royal Delta is also pointed toward the Grade 1 Dubai World Cup, the 4-year-old filly went out on 26 March, 2012, to turn in about a mile and a quarter.
The champion fill who is being prepped for the Dubai World Cup was in good shape said Mott’s assistant Leana Willaford.
