Question:

Bahamas Cruise?

Hi my family (husband and 2 daughters ages 15 and 18) are thinking of going on a cruise to the Bahamas in June. My question is, is it worth it to fly from California to miami, florida for a 3 night cruise. The cruise is with Royal Caribbean and it stops in Nassua and CocoCay. Ive been doing some research and the trip would cost around $2600 for the flight, cruise, and 2 nights at a hotel in miami. Anyone that has ever taken this cruise, is it worth it? Any advice on what to do on such a short cruise? Should i plan on adding a few extra days to the beginning or end of the cruise to make the price of the flight worth while? thank you so much for any input.

  1. Sorry, i don't think that is worth it for a 3 night cruise. Look for something leaving from California and going to mexico and other places like that so this way you dont need airfare. Check out cruise411. Good luck!

  2. No!  Coco Cay is absolutely gorgeous and if the wind is blowing the wrong way, you might not get a chance to even see it!!  Nassau is "okay" pretty junky  (my humble opinion).  I would either add some days to the entire vacation or pick somewhere else to go.  Go ahead and search for a longer cruise...you'll love it.

  3. I think you should definatley spend a few extra days in Miami after your cruise...

I've cruised w/ royal carribean and spent some time in Miami afterwards and it was great... there is a lot to do and see. Since you're flying from California I would definatley make the most of it! Enjoy =)

  4. As part of a bigger vacation package? Absolutely.  But why not take a Mexican Riviera cruise from Los Angles. Royal Caribbean is an excellent chioce for the entire family.  I would not fly from California to Florida just to see Nassua and Coco Cay, unless it's targeted as a diving destination, or there is a specific golf corse, or fisihing trip you want to go on.  To go there just to say I've been to the Bahamas or just to explore, is no big deal.  Mexican ports offer the same things as the Bahamas and are a bit more pleasant, in my opinion.  RCCL's reservation dept should be able together a package for you including air fair.

  5. I really don't think it's worth it.  Although RCCL offers a nice product and Coco Cay is kind of like paradise, the cruise is too short to warrent paying the airfare.  I would only pay alot of airfare if I were taking a 7+ day cruise.  Another option would be to fly to a carribean port and stay at an AI
