I and my boyfriend are planning a trip to Bahamas in the last week of May. Both we are not interested in sight seeing and all that stuff. We just want to be relaxed in very exotic and natural area. So guess Nassau won't be good for out trip, is this right? Also, we are thinking about booking air+hotel pachage cuz it's cheaper. But what's pros and cons for this? and should we need to drive there to move around even though we're not interested in sight seeing that much? Plz gimme some advices about there. especially where we should go among many islands. Thanks.

  1. If you could try to find a package that would take you to one of the out islands i.e. exuma, long island, abaco or eleuthera. you can usally find a hotel pretty close to a beach and have a lot more privacy than you would on nassau or paradise island. even if you're not interested in sightseeing the bahamas still has a lot to offer in natural beauty and yes because of 9/11 the US government does require a passport now to reenter the US. The restaurants are quite expensive tho so to supplement meals you could probably bring some snacks along.

  2. Yes, your boyfriend needs a passport to travel to the Bahamas.

You do not need a passport to go the US Virgin islands or Puerto Rico. They are territories of the USA

You have the right idea air and land purchased together are cheaper.

Since you are not interested in sight seeing, I would check out Breezes Bahamas on Nassau Cable Beach. it's an all-inclusive resort. You can just relax and enjoy the beach and each other without moving around.

Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort is also on Cable Beach Nassau. It's nicer than Breezes but so are the prices. (more expensive) Sandals would be my choice. I think the beach and water on Nassau/Paradise Island is awesome.

Good Luck and start working on that passport it takes about 6-8 weeks to get.)

  3. I think that the bahamas is beautiful, you got to be careful sometimes the deals are too good to be true. They do that nice hotels that you can book . I would advise you to book the now it's cheaper. Also There has been a law that has been passed that you have to have a passport to visit anywhere outside the US even though it is considered part of it.

  4. Yes your boyfriend will need a passport while traveling to the Bahamas.

If you are looking for an exotic location, I would choose Harbour Island.   Instead of renting a car, you can rent a golf cart and get around in.

The beaches are famous for their fine pink sand, and I doubt there will be many visitors on the island.  It is very beautiful and peaceful.

If you are wanting more people, but not the hustle buslt of Paradise Island (Atlantis) you could try the Cable beach resorts on New Providence, easy casual atmospere, with a night life. and once again beautiful beach front properties.

I enjoyed Long Island, but really there is not very much to do there, but the drink shack was a fun place to hang out, and had great food.  The beaches are gorgeous, and lots of privacy.  The people of that island were very friendly and I would go back any time.

  5. First - yes your boyfriend does need a passport.  There are alot of great escape areas around Nassau - try checking the Cable Beach resorts and the resorts on Paradise Island.  I don't know what your budget is so it's difficult to point you in the direction of an affordable area.  I would view the resorts in Orbitz or Travelocity to see what fits your budget.

Check out the Sunday Travel section of most newspapers and you'll find some good deals as well!

    Have fun planning your trip.

I just saw your passport question - yes, he will need a passport - it's about $80.  My son just got his - it only took 2 weeks to receive.
