Question:

Bail on jury duty..........?

Well, I had received a mail for a jury summons and had put it back in the mail after marking "MOVED" on the front (This was when my mother and I were taking care of Dad and that I thought I was MOVING). But then I realized I wasn't moving just yet (the apartment thing didn't work out so well as I'd hoped) so should I go ahead and register to vote?

My uncle said I didn't have to worry about it-something about the "database" he said...and he also said I should do jury duty

I won't get in trouble will I? (For "bailing"?)

  1. You lied to the Court. All you had to do was call and explain the situation to them and they would have excused you. You need to find out if the Jury lists are taken from the voter registration list or drivers licenses list etc. You haven't changed your voter registration, you just gave false information to the Court. Wait a few years before you accept Jury duty.  8~)

  2. I don't know about your specific area but a Judge could actually issue a body attachment (order you be brought to jail/court) It's highly unlikely though. Judges have way to much on their plates, They don't know you bailed, it was returned "moved." They don't know you didn't move.

Everyone should register to vote as soon as they are able.
