Bailey Genealogy?

I am searching for information about Mack Franklin Bailey and Elizabeth Mae Hollinsworth who gave birth to a daughter, Lucy Ann Bailey, in Chico, Wise Co., TX, and born 10/29/1892. In 1900, Lucy Ann was adopted by William J. and Mary E. (Molly) Taylor Shultz. in Wise Co., TX., and she died in 1957, and was buried in Oaklawn Cemetary, Decatur, Wise Co., TX. Would there be anything on the adoption in 1900? Did they keep official adoption records back then? Thanks for any help!

  1. awts...this one is tough to do especially when you have so very little information and so far to trace back.

My advised would be : ask agents/company to do the research for you.

I cant give exact names but try asking your legal attorney if you have; on how to process this matter it is best if brought to the right people with right profession.

Good luck and God Bless!! ^_^

  2. Except for the marriage records, which start in 1881..Wise county records are fairly intact.  Your Mack and Elizabeth were married in Wise co, but I have not been able to find either one in the 1880 census.

It is very possible to be a guardianship or adoption there, unless it was informal.  IF Mack owned land in Chico, that would have to be accessed in a probate file.  They do not have a tombstone at Chico, and all cemeteries there, are online.

Your best lead may be Margie Etter, who posted a page online that had the names of Mack and Elizabeth.  She is subbed to the Wise co list, if you have not already been in contact with her.  There are also several persons (LaDarla, Sue Tackel, Dave Pitts) who are extremely active in dealing with Wise co. records.
