With Everton finding themselves one of the leading contenders for a top-four finish this season, courtesy their brilliant start, Baines claimed that a win over Newcastle was just the kind of start they were looking for in the year 2013.
The English International lauded the way his side crawled their way back into the match after conceding an early goal, but admitted that they made the most of the depleted confidence of their opponents.
The Toon have now lost all of their previous three league matches and have pulled off just one win in their last 7 games in all competitions.
“It was a massive three points,” he told the reporters in an interview.
