The English International was a part of the national squad for the Euro 2012 competition held in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 recently. Even though he did feature in the Three Lions friendly fixtures leading up to the coveted tournament, he failed to get any piece
of action during his country’s entire campaign, which eventually ended with a quarterfinal defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
Following the completion of the event, the players competing in the Euros were given almost a one month break by their respective clubs.
However, the 27-year-old left back went on to reveal that even though the players do need a breather following their gruelling commitments both at club and international levels, he prefers to practice even during the pre-season, in order to remain in good
shape.
He told the reporters in an interview, “I only took a week off to be honest. I figured it wouldn't be that long before I was back so I might as well stay in decent shape.”
“If you keep yourself up to scratch physically, you can get the full benefit when you start the season.”
The maverick Toffees defender has been heavily linked to a move to Old Trafford this summer, keeping in view his remarkable 2011/12 season at Goodison Park.
All in all, he has capped 202 appearances for Everton since his arrival at the Merseyside club in July 2007, and also netted 15 goals during this period.

Speaking of his European Championships experience, Baines indicated that despite his understudy status in the team, he had to work hard during the training sessions in order to keep a high fitness level.
He then added that he and Jagielka push each other along during the training exercises, and felt that it was a ‘good partnership’ for both of them.
“Jags [Phil Jagielka] is a good running partner for me…there'll be times when I pull him along a bit and others where I'm trying to hang onto him.”
