  1. NEVER get a baja youll regret it if you buy it

  2. The BAJA 125 is a clone of an early Honda design.

My son got a BAJA DR125 from Canadian Tire last fall. Other than the fact that they haven't a clue about how to do a PDI we have had few problems. They didn't even drain the shipping oil!

In Canada these machines come with only a 90 day warranty. The throttle had been overtightened at the factory and the screws stripped out of the housing. Canadian Tire got us a new one but it took 3 weeks. I changed the part myself. Other than that there have been no problems. We change the oil after about every 20-25 hours and do our own maintenance. Canadian tire services cars and the store is 45 miles from where we live anyway.

Our local bike dealer will not service the machine. He has as much as told me that he doesn't do 'Chinese' bikes. He won't be getting our business when my son 'upgrades'.

Be advised that the DR125 is not a motocross machine by any stretch of the imagination. It is a pretty good trail machine, though. It does not like being jumped or stunted. We are in the process of trying to upgrade the rear shock. I ride it on occasion and it was definitely NOT designed for a 220 pound rider.

When you consider that these bikes cost a third of what a Japanese bike sells for they're not too bad. Unless your an experienced rider you will find this a good starter bike. And if you s***w it up, so what. It's like BIC lighter; you just get another one.
