I want to install baja roof lights on my car... I know I cant drive on public roads with them ON... but they are ok when they are OFF.

My question is,

Even with them off, will I get pulled over without having covers on them? The lights dont have covers.

  1. I never have, but it might depends on where you are. I wouldn't think so, but who knows about those idiot Californians and their off-road hating hippies :)

  2. Each state, county and local municipality have their own set of equipment regulations. You should go to a RELIABLE off-road supply company and ask ..off the record.. of any laws they are aware of locally. You can drive across a street and change city or county borders. The rules change immediately. I built 4x4 trucks for hobby and would get citation from local P.D.  Then I would get ruling from local city attorney. Your best bet is to get snap on lens covers when not in use. That way , unless the equipment is rated off road use only, you are covered.  Hope this helps. I'm in Chicago and our suburb P.D. traffic cars live for these equip. tickets.  Good luck!!!

  3. It will depend on where you live, some states require that you have the covers on so that you do not use them at all.

It would be best if you just contacted your local department of motor vehicles office or your local police station.
