Bake sale ideas..?

I am planning to do a bake sale near the 4th of July at my neighborhood park. The funds will go to the Share Our Strength Great American Bake Sale to end childhood hunger.

What are some easy and best selling recipes that will help me raise money? Also, what should the prices be? I was thinking maybe $0.50 to $2.00, depending on the item. Does that sound reasonable?

What a great idea. I wish you al ot of luck and a beautiful day to have your event.  Rice krispy treats-- plain or chocoate or mixed are always a big hit as are brownies, blondies,drop cookies like chocolate chip go over well too.  cupcakes with or without frosting depending on how  hot it is where you live are always acrowd pleaser too.  As there are many children with allergies these days it is helpful to list your ingredients.  Again, good luck.  i hope this helped.

In our area, the Sat. before Mothers' Day we have a pie sale.

This will be our 15th year.  We sell 70 to 80 pies at 9.00 each in 2 hours.  Advertisements are the key.  We hang and pass out flyers everywhere at least a week prior to the event. We also pretty up the wrappings.

Seems like CupCakes are the "big" thing right now.

You could use a simple mix and put your effort into the decorations....My kids LOVE cupcakes!

They have those little bite size ones also.

It doesnt really matter if it just has plain white icing,

you stick a Sponge Bob or Dora in it and some sprinkles... they want it bad! :)

Bake Sale Pricing

Pricing for your bake sale can vary depending on who you are selling your baked goods to.   For example, a bake sale to students, you may want to charge by the item, instead of by the package or plate.   The following chart gives you a good rule of thumb for bake sale pricing.  Pricing will vary on who your customers are and the economic strength of your community.   A cookie could sell easily for 25 cents in one place and 50 in another.   Also, consider the size of the cookie or bar when setting your prices.

Bake Sale Tip:  Another option that some bake salers are using with smaller items such as cookies, bars, and candy is to make up plate of mixed goodies.  Let the buyer pick which items they would like.  Then wrap the plate in plastic wrap.   Have a food scale ready to use and sell plates of bake sale treats by the pound.  You will need more helping hands to manage a sale this way, but it's a great way to allow customers to try a variety.

One thing for sure would be classic chocolate chip cookies! Everyone loves those. You can find the classic recipe on the back of Nestle Chocolate Chips. Depending on the size, do $.50 - $1.

If they're average size, do $.50

Rice Krispy squares ar easy and cheap to make and extra yummy  I would pay $1.00 for a 3"x3" square good luck!!  Oh yeah a pan should cost you about$3.50 to make. That's 12 squares per 9x12 pan for a profit of $8.50 a pan.

Do multi items...a plate of dozen cookies or so and single too. You could make the stuff from duncan hines or betty crocker,,yummy

simple cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and your prices are reasonable but be sure to mention that the price is optional, let's say something costs $0.50, tell the customer, politely,that they may donate more, not necessarily like that, but something like that.

For bake sales, I try to stick with cookies since they transport easily, are cheaper and more appealing to kids.     Unless you have some bakery boxes, I don't recommend cakes or pies.   Who wants to buy a cake with smeared frosting.     July is a hard month since it'll be so hot outside then and chocloate will melt easily.

I have made giant sugar cookies and stuck a wooden popsicle or lollipop sticks in the cookie so that it resembles a giant lollipop.   You bake the stick in the cookie.   You can decorate them as faces using some frosting, chocolate candies, etc.     Wrap in saran wrap and tie with a ribbon around the stick.   Display by sticking the sticks into holes punched in a shoe box.   Kids seem to really like these.     We have sold these for $.50 and $1.00 (depends on the neighborhood).  

Rice Krispy squares are generally good and durable.     Sprinkle with red, white & blue sprinkles.      There is some waste (unless your kids eat the scraps) but you could cut out shapes from the cooled treats and decorate them.      You could also stick a lollipop stick in these treats and display as suckers.  

Peanut butter cookies are generally good.     Brownies are good (don't forget the blondie brownies).    

Bake cupcakes in ice cream cones.    Decorate with frosting and sprinkles.    

Make some trail mix or a snack mix.    This would be a nice alternative to sweets for some people.  

Mix together some peanuts and candy corn (I can sometimes find red and white variety instead of the yellow and orange).   Anyway mix together in a bag.   Tastes just like a Payday candy bar.   Yum.

How about renting a sno cone machine or having some lemonade for sale at your booth.    Kids love sno cones and they are really cheap to make.

Standards are:  rice krispie treats, brownies, cupcakes, etc.  Your prices are reasonable - however if someone makes something fairly expensive - say homemade cinnamon rolls for example - you may want to charge more. :)

These are both excellent, and simple. I think $3.00 for a small loaf will sell good.

Zucchini Bread

3 cups flour

2 cups shredded unpeeled zucchini

1 ½ cup sugar

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

3 eggs

1 tsp salt

1 tablespoon oil

½ tsp baking powder

1 - 8 ounce can crushed pineapple

½ tsp baking soda

In large bowl mix all but the eggs & oil. In small bowl mix eggs and oil, pour over mixture and mix really well. Turn/scrape into a sprayed full size loaf pan, bake @ 350 for 45 minutes. Check for done with toothpick, bake up to 15 minutes more until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

Let cool in pan at least 10 minutes, turn out of pan to rack to cool completely.

(this recipe doubled makes 5 mini loaves)

Banana Nut Bread





1  box yellow cake mix

1  package Jell-O Instant Banana Cream Pudding & Pie Filling

1/2  cup water

1/2  cup vegetable oil

2  ripe bananas, mashed

4  eggs

1  cup chopped pecans

Mix all the ingredients well. Pour into 2 large or 3 small greased loaf pans. Bake at 350° F for 40 to 45 minutes. (For those allergic to nuts, this recipe can be made without the pecans.)

Yield: Makes 2 large or 3 small loaves

Homemade chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cupcakes from the box are all relatively cheap but if you charge somewhere between .50 and $2 (which sounds reasonable) you will still be able to make a profit. Cookie recipes are super easy and make a ton, same with cupcakes..plus you can decorate them all pretty!

Hey, at my school, each term we have a cake day to raise money for the cancer charity, and there are some good sellers!

Brownies are a hit.

Coconut ice is also good.

Muffins also sell.

And generally just nice slices of cake, caramel, chocolate etc. And we generally have a milkshake stall too, they sell really good, and just have your normal vanilla, strawberry, chocolate flavours, caramel if you wish.

Ohk, for the slices, I think $0.50 - $0.75 depending on the size of the things, and maybe $1.00 for a peice of cake. Or you can like get them to make up a plate of goodies, say a peice of cake and 2 pieces of slice for only $1.50, that sort of thing.  And if you are willing to have the milkshakes, have like two different sizes.  $1.50 for a smaller one, $2.00 for the bigger one.

see what it cost to make a batch by adding up expenses and dividing the amount of cookies you can make with those materials. charge enough to at least double your money. that's what I would do. I would say atleast 1.50 for a large cookie. have fun.

I think your pricing is absolutly reasonable.  As far as what to have, rice crispy treats, brownies, cookies, banana bread(sell as a whole loaf for like $5), cupcakes, Angel food cake(sell same as bread), cinnamon rolls, date nut bars.  Walk around  your local store and look around the bakery section for other ideas.  Good luck it sounds like a great charity..
