Baking cakes and decorations?

Question

im baking a three tier carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. to add decoration im going to TRY to add pink rosebuds and carrots with colored left over frosting! any ideas as to how to draw rosebuds and carrots in frosting??????????!!!!!! much needed to be answered

Save yourself some grief and get a frosting nail. Image-

Put a small blob of frosting on the nail, place a square of waxed paper on the blob. Make the flower or carrot, slide it off and freeze until firm. To apply to the cake, gently slide the flower off the waxed paper and onto a small spatula or knife-tip and gently slide it into place.

Well doing something like that is not as easy as it sounds. I baked a cake yesterday and wanted to try putting decoration on it with colored frosting and it was harder than i thought.  I made my own piping bag with a ziploc bag and cut a tiny hole and one of corners, it worked good but to make roses and petals like you are talking about i think you need to buy those tips at the store and the bag or what ever to go with it.

Hey I just made the same cake on Sunday....but I just scattered chopped pecans on top of mine for decoration.

Anyhoo.  I cant really help you with the rosebuds...but for carrots, I would take leftover icing (add more sugar to thicken so It wont run) color it orange.  Put it in a ziplock bag.  Make a TINY cut in the corner and pipe a carrot on to the top of the cake.  Just start at the top and squeeze hard til the top of the carrot is as thick as youd like, and squeeze less and less as you go down until it comes to a point. Do the same with green icing to make the carrot tops.

   plastic bags  like a baggie   for the carrotts   maby go to the

internet and look up basic frosting rose buds

really hard to explain.
