Baku opens media registration for the Final Four of CEV Champions League – Volleyball news
The Azerbaijani city of Baku has recently opened the accreditation for the local and international media to cover the influential Final Four of the Women’s Champions League.
Teams from Italy, Turkey, Russia, and France will be on board to vie for the European crown. The host nation Azerbaijan also played with two teams in the competition but none of them could find a way to the final four. Azerrail Baku and Rabita Baku represented
Azerbaijan but failed to prove their endeavours.
The final phase of the Champions League will cover its length from March 24-25. Since there is just a couple of weeks’ time is left in the start of final round, the Baku administration has opened registration for all the media that wish to cover the event.
The local and international media and journalists intending to attend the premier European volleyball event are invited to apply for the registration, which is open until March 19. The application forms and other relevant information are available online.
The wonderfully built Heydar Aliyev Sports and Exhibition Complex in Baku will provide the backdrop for the final four matches. The Exhibition Complex is one of the largest sports stadiums in Baku and it has the privilege of hosting several international
events such as the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in 2005 and the FILA Wrestling World Championships in 2007.
Most recently, this facility played host to 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships. This time around, it is ready to host the volleyball action.
The final four round of the 2012 CEV Women’s Champions League will be opened with the semi-finals on Saturday, March 24. In the first match, France’s RC Cannes will take on Italian MC-Carnaghi Villa Cortese at 16:30 (local time), whereas the second semi-final
will feature Fenerbahce Universal Istanbul of Turkey against Dinamo Kazan of Russia.  The successful teams will meet in the final match on Sunday, March 25. On the other hand, the losers of semi-finals will come into stride in the third position match.
The city of Baku is ready to greet volleyball enthusiasts from all around the world, who are expected to come to watch the final four matches.
