Bal Thackeray criticises Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for cricket democracy
Bal Thackeray, chief of the Hindu fanatic party Shiv Sena, criticised Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, 28th March for sending invitation to his Pakistani counterpart and the President of 1992 ICC World Champions.
Thackeray contemptuously said, “If Pak President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani can be invited to watch the Mohali cricket match in the name of peace, why should injustice be done to Kasab and Afzal Guru? They should also be given tickets and invited to watch the match on Wednesday.”
The relationship between the two countries somersaulted after the attacks on Indian Parliament in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 on 26th November, 2008. Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru, both Pakistani citizens, were deemed as masterminds behind the attacks.
Shiv Sena’s leader asserts that historically many leaders from across the border have visited India but the tension between the countries continues. He concluded that his country has been a victim of terrorist attacks at the hands of Pakistan.
Thackeray condemned the lenient policy adopted by his PM and stresses that they should go for a stern mindset. The fanatic leader, who considers Pakistan as an enemy of the state, established that PM is pinching on the lesions inflicted by terrorists.
In other news, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, acknowledged the step taken by Manmohan Singh and believes that such attitude is a must if both countries plan to mitigate the ongoing tension between them.
Pakistani PM affirmed his visit to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 where he intends to hold a meeting with Indian PM and will then proceed to watch the semi-final clash together.
Gillani concluded that this meeting will help in perking up ties between the South-Asians neighbours. The PM said his government wants to promote peace in South-Asia and believes dialogues are the best way to achieve this goal.
Firdaus Ashiq Awan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, talking to the media on Sunday quoted, “Prime Minister Gilani has said that such invitation will provide a ‘fillip’ to diplomacy where the two countries are set to resume bilateral talks particularly when their foreign secretaries had already met and the interior secretaries are going to meet during these days.”
The minister confirmed the reason of the visit is to watch the match and there are no backdoor negotiations and purposes involved. However, she concluded that PM is eager to promote trade between the neighboring countries and strengthening the ties with India.
The hype surrounding the game is unsurprising. Though, the match is supposed to bring the two nations closer, the heated rivalry between the two cricketing teams unabated.
The match will be played at Mohali on Wednesday, 30th http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 semi-final, which will be played on Tuesday, 29 March.
