Balancing a Meterstick with a Nonzero Net Torque???

When can a meterstick (balanced upon a fulcrum) have a net force = 0 but a net torque that does not equal 0????

  1. I do not think this scenario is possible. For a body to be in equilibrium, the summation of torques must be equal to zero. If net torque is greater than zero, then the body will tend to have movement consistent with the direction of the force creating the greater torque.
