Balancing equations...left side?

H2 + CL2 ----> HCL --> 2HCl

my teacher said the left side in unbalanced... I don't understand. Do I need a 2 in frot of something?

  1. H2 + Cl2 → 2HCl is correct.


  2. How many Hydrogen on the left? Answer: 2

    How many Chlorine on the left? Answer: 2

    How many on the right? 3 total H and 3 total Cl.

    Actually the equation doesn't make any sense at all.

    You should get rid of the "HCL" and just keep the 2 HCl

    H2 + Cl2 ---> 2 HCl

  3. H2 + Cl2 --> 2HCl
