Baldini reveals January transfer plans and coy over De Rossi contract: Serie A news
A.S Roma General Manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Franco-c14050 Baldini, has hinted of January arrivals at the club and is still unsure over Daniele De Rossi’s future.
Baldini revealed that he has full backing of the new owners and they have assured him that the funds are available to buy new players in January. The Giallorossi spent millions on acquisition of new players in the summer transfer
window but the chief insists that there is still a lot of work left to do.
The 51-year-old praised the club owners and insisted that they have not come here to make money and they are looking to make A.S Roma amongst the top sides in the world.
Baldini added, “Our American investors have good intentions and are not here just to make money. We will intervene on the market to improve the foundations of the squad. We need both players who are tanks and those who are butterflies.”
The former Bari midfielder also talked about influential midfielder, Daniele De Rossi’s contract situation and revealed the intent of tying the midfielder under a new contract. The Italian international’s contract is set to expire
at the end of the 2011/12 season and he has failed to agree on an extension. The two parties are locked in negotiations for the past eight months but they have not come up with a concrete solution as yet.
“There is too much talk about De Rossi’s contract, but I will just say he is someone we need. The whole world would like him in their teams. Clearly he is evaluating all the options at his disposal, while we are letting him know
how important he is for us.”
Several top European clubs are monitoring the Italian’s situation at Stadio Olimpico Rome and it is believed that Manchester City are readying a mammoth offer to tempt the veteran midfielder away from the club.
Baldini insisted that De Rossi is an icon of Giallorossi and he is extremely important member of the club’s future plans. The 28-year-old developed from the youth system of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and has been with them for more than 10 years.
