Tottenham Hotspur winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 insists that he did not dive to win the penalty that eventually helped his side seal a 2-1 win over Scotland in their World Cup qualifying match.
The winger was in fine form as he singlehandedly inspired his side to a hard fought comeback against Scotland at the Cardiff City Stadium.
This win is Wales’ first in 5 games under new manager Chris Coleman, who was appointed as the head coach of the national team following Gary Speed’s death.
The manager was delighted by his team’s performance and the result which puts them behind the undefeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 and Macedonia behind them as they look to secure their place in the 2014 World Cup.
Scotland had scored the first goal of the night courtesy of West Brom’s James Morrison. However, Wales fought back and got their reward when Bale was brought down in the box by midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shaun-Maloney-c33274. Considering the Welshman’s tendency for going down easily, many had their doubts about the incident, but the winger showed nerves of steel as he converted the penalty and levelled the score.
Bale added the second of the night with just two minutes left on the clock as he fired home a ferocious left-footed shot. The Tottenham ace was quick to make his case for the penalty decision and said that he did not dive to win it.
“Somebody clipped me and I went over. It was a simple penalty and it was nice to get up and slot it away,” he said.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s Joe Allen, who also featured for the Welsh side in the victory, rushed to his teammates defence and added:
“My instinct was that it was a penalty. It was a difficult decision but it looked like his ankle was clipped.”
Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Coleman was delighted by his side’s performance and was a relieved man as he finally secured his first 3 points in-charge of the national side. Speaking on the penalty incident, he said:
"Don't get me wrong, I don't like to see anybody diving. The finger has been pointed at Gareth once or twice but I don't think he dived tonight. I thought he was running at great pace in the box.”
