Tottenham Hotspur player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 has returned to training following a hamstring injury which had kept him out for the past three weeks. The Welshman is expected to be in contention to face Stoke City on the weekend.
The player had picked up the hamstring strain back on the 1st of December when he played in the 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Bale played out the first half, but was taken off when the second half resumed.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas’ side missed Bale in the game that followed the Fulham encounter, where they lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 in the dying minutes at Goodison Park. Tottenham had taken the lead, but eventually fell apart as they failed to hold on to it.
This had been a major problem for the side, especially since they had conceded goals in the final minutes in their last 10 games. Tottenham repeated this feat again when two last minute goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikica-Jelavic-c27906 saw them leave Merseyside
empty handed.
The next game saw Tottenham welcome Swansea City at White Hart Lane, and Spurs managed a fairly comfortable 1-0 victory over the Swans. After the game, defender and summer signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 had said that the game was proof that Tottenham could cope
without Bale and had enough players to fill in for the Welsh star.
Clint Dempsey had played on the left wing in that game, and did a good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 for the hosts as they climbed back up to 4th spot. Villas-Boas however will be still delighted with his player’s return after having to make do without him in the past
games.
Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, he said:
“It’s good news. First for the player because he wants to be back in the group and he’s made a tremendous recovery. He’s worked extremely hard.”
Defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 had also suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham, and has made his return alongside Bale. Villas-Boas added:
“Michael was injured in the same game as Gareth and they’ve both returned to training. It’s great to have them back. Benoit is also recovering his fitness, along with Scott Parker. Scott is a little ahead of Benoit but he’s getting back into shape and contention.”
