The Olympics are just a month away and Great Britain’s football team, managed by Stuart Pearce, already face problems and last minute exclusions. Tottenham winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 was pulled out of Great Britain’s Olympic football team following a recurring
injury. The injury completely rules out the Welshman from the Olympic Games next month.
Bale was expected to start alongside fellow compatriots http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985, but now it looks like Stuart Pearce will be deprived of the Welshman’s blinding pace, crossing ability and attacking prowess.
The winger is believed to have pick up a recurrence of an old back and hip injury and the problem appears to be serious enough to keep him out of the Team GB squad. This deals a great blow to Stuart Pearce’s ambitions since Bale was considered to be a central
part of the team.
Bale, who signed a four-year contract extension with Spurs this week, does not want to risk further injury and would like to be up and running as soon as possible, especially with the new Premier League season just seven weeks away.
Bale had previously made his desire to play for team Great Britain public and even went against the wishes of the Welsh FA, by posing in the Great Britain Olympic kit.
There has been much controversy regarding team Great Britain already with Bale’s exclusion and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Beckham’s recent snub. However, more fuel was added to the fire when it was learnt that there was not to be a single Scot or Irish player in Pearce’s final
18-man squad.
The team consists of many young players, with currently only Craig Bellamy, Ryan Giggs and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 as the three senior players who made the cut.
Tottenham still have representation in the team with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Ramsey-c3065 remain the only Welsh players in the squad that will represent Great Britain
in the Olympics.
