  1. Like I said the Red Tails will grow around 6 - 7 ft. Adults may eat rabbits, large rats, and chickens. I hope you know a place to get the food. Remember it all adds up. Are you sure you can handle a 6ft - 7ft snake? Promise when it gets bigger you don't release it to the wild?

I suggest you get the ball python. Yes they are nippy eaters but they will eat whenever they are hungry. Female Ball Pythons grow to 5ft and will only eat Hoppers up to a small rat.

Good Luck On getting your 3rd snake!!!!

  2. red tails are not good pets for first time snake owners. they are a pain. i have 5 ball pythons and still cant handle a boa, i have one. so a ball python would be the best. heres a good care sheet.

    good luck!

  3. red tail boa. Two things I've never liked are leopard gecko's and ball pythons. I love red tails. I think they look a lot better and a lot prettier.  Now both have some different care. Ball pythons don't get as large as red tails do so one snake, you're looking at smaller housing, smaller food, etc. So beyond looks, purchase whatever you think you can handle.

  4. Well, that depends on you. If you can accommodate a 10 foot snake that may have to eat rabbits, then I say red tailed boas are for you. A ball python normally stays under 5 feet, and may have to eat a small-medium rat, or at least two adult mice. Also, a red tailed boa isn't a good first snake, while a ball python is very easy to care for. Red tailed boas are very messy, while a ball python is a very clean snake. Also, a full setup for an adult red tailed boa could be as big as 8' wide x 3' deep x at least 2' tall. That cage would have to be a custom cage, which costs a lot of money. A ball python may have to have a 40 gallon, but not until it gets 4-5 feet long, which takes at least 3 years. So overall; I would say a ball python would be a better snake for you. I hope this helps.

  5. Ball python!!!!

  6. I have one of each. I like the red-tail better.

Because she is allot less jumpy and easier to hold.

And to me an all around better snake.

  7. I have both RTB's and BP's (as well as others) and personally I like the RTB better as they actually have "personality". Not to say that a BP doesn't it's just not nearly as noticeable.

But if this is your first snake then I'd suggest a BP due to their non-aggressive nature and smaller size.

  8. Red Tailed Boas aren't the best choice for a first snake...

Ball Pythons are excellent starters, but they are pretty boring.

Red Tailed Boas are my favourite snakes, so if you do plenty of research you could probably do it.

  9. Ball Python!!

  10. if it's your first snake and the choice is those two a ball python.  ball pythons reach 4' or 5' where red tails reach around 9' or 11'.
