Ball python shedding?

When my ball python sheds the skin never comes off in one piece. Why is this? Is the enclosure not humid enough? Or do ball pythons shed in one piece?

  1. It sounds like you need to raise the humidity! just try spraying the tank a few times a day whilst hes in shed! Or you could wait till his eyes have cleared(as this usually means he will shed in the next couple of days)and then give him a warm bath.... it helps if you put warm water(not to warm) in  a container and let him have a soak for twenty Min's, this usually helps my python!, hope i have been of some help! the water should come half way up his body, not to deep... also one of mine doesn't shed whole... i wouldn't worry..

  2. alot of times when there young they sorta have a tough time doing it but its not a bad thing or anything and the only way u can help is by giving them a bath. when their eyes get that milky white to em thats when i would give em a bath and then maybe another one after the eyes clear up and that'll help him shed its what i do with mine

  3. If your snake is having a bad shed take a plastic box, large enough for your snake to fit in it comfortably.  Get the short boxes for soaking snakes…the box should be about the height to go under a bed.  Drill several small holes along the sides at the top for airflow (this box can also be used as a feeding tub for your snake).  Put about a half inch or an inch of lukewarm water (about 80 Fahrenheit) and put the top on the plastic tub and “soak” the snake for about 3 hours (changing the water every so often if needed).  The reason to do this in a plastic tub with only a half inch or inch of water is because it's the humidity that this creates that helps the skin loosen and come off easier for your snake.

    Good luck.

  4. I have one... he did not shed whole the last time. i would loe one of his skins. But... they usually rub against something to have the skin come off.. Maybe ad a log or something inside the tank? You might want to mist his tank or soak him closer to his shed. That might help if your TRYING to make as full skin.

Anyhow... after doing all sugggested... you might STILL not get a full skin. I would not worry unless it becomes a problem.

  5. I have two ball pythons. Had them since 1998. It varies how they shed. It can be in pieces or whole. But they shed by rubbing their bodies against something like a log or something in the tank. But dont worry its nothing wrong with it shedding in pieces.
