  1. u will need to get a bigger tsnk but your good for now

  2. i have 2 ball python about the same size and i have them in a 30 gallon tank and they luv it but as they grow imm have to get a bigger tank around 40 or 45 so a 20 gallon is good cuz they dont move alot just stay in 1 spot balled up is not tru if u dont get a bigger it wont grow thats bullshit they stil have to grow basically ever year until adult

  3. i think its a pretty good tank but as soon as hes around 2foot 6 you should get him a forty gallon

  4. i wish i knew who started the myth that a snake will only get as large as it's enclosure...thats crapola  the snake will continue to grow no matter the size of enclosure...he does need a larger tank though...a 40 - 55 gallon is usually big enough for an adult ball.  just a word though when you change tanks on your snake it will probably not eat for a while...when you move it leave it alone for at least 7 days dont handle or feed it and at the end of that put it in his feeding tub and try to feed him...if he doesnt eat put him back up.  if he hasnt eaten in about 2 weeks if he is used to being handled you can go ahead and handle him normally but only try to feed him every 7 - 10 days.  i'm not sure if you have had any experience with hunger strikes but ball pythons do it all the time...they can go up to a year without eating (i've had one do that).

    good luck!

  5. The whole "won't grow because the tank is too small" thing is a total myth. They WILL keep growing, but continuing to live in cramped conditions can cause stress and lead to sickness.

The general rule is to get a tank long enough for them to stretch out in without touching either side, although most adult ball pythons  do just fine in 50-60 gallon tanks. Your little one is probably okay in a 20 ga. for now, but I'd upgrade him around 2 1/2 feet.

And the whole overwhelmed by a large enclosure thing only applies to the babies and younger ones. Yours sounds old enough to be able to handle a larger enclosure.

    Good luck! :)

  6. they will grow no matter what. you might need to upgrade to a 40 or even a 55 soon. like next couple months soon. its the babies and juveniles that get too overwhelmed by open spaces. if yours is a sub adult (it sounds like it) they really dont care about open spaces. it doesn't stress them out as much.
