I have a ball python he is in a tank 24L x 12 x12 , with his hide, water & some rocks it seem a bit small he is about 26 in or so long.I was thinking to make a tank 48L x 12w x 24D . Will this be too big? he is still growing so I thought a bit more room for him to explore and I can get a new snake for the other tank.

  1. yes that is acceptable or 50 gallon tank.

  2. 36 x 12 x 18 is the so-called "accepted" size - but there is nothing as "too big" for a snake.  Just make sure the tank has all the environmental things he will need - rocks, water, heat, humidity, light, a "hideaway" that has more ambient moisture than the rest of the area, etc. etc.

  3. "Adult ball pythons require cage dimensions of approximately 36" long by 18" wide or 24" long by 12" wide for subadult animals"
