The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international skipper reflected back on his footballing career that included his term with big European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Chelsea and thought it was the perfect time to call time on his
career.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Ballack-c25270 maintained that it was a very tough choice to finally retire from the game, but insisted that it was high time that he moved on from football to end his stellar career. The veteran midfielder has 98 caps for the
national team and represented European top sides such as Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
The midfielder was widely expected to join American and then Australian based team but a move did not materialise. As a result, the experienced player decided to retire, even though he admitted that it was a very difficult choice
but he believed it was the right time to discontinue playing.
"It's never easy, you know? But I felt it's time to stop playing," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The attacker said he is 36 and have won almost all the trophies in his career, and have enjoyed a number of great experiences. However, the talented player stated that he got tired of playing during the summers after a long career.
"I'm 36 now and I had a great career, had a great time playing football - so many great moments. But there's always a point where you say 'that's it', and that came this summer," he mused.
Ballack won four German League titles, English Premier League and was also selected in the UEFA Euro Team of the Tournament in 2004 and 2008 as well. He did not comment on his future plans and said that he is yet to decide what
he will do.
"Not yet, I'm trying to enjoy my life at the moment, adapting to the new situation – it's something totally new for me – without any football, and that's what I'm trying to enjoy now, then we'll see," he finally concluded.
The playmaker claimed that he is adapting to his new life without any dose of football, and will see what the future holds for him.
