Ballantine's Championship: Bernd Wiesberger shoots 65 in the second round
Bernd Wiesberger shot a 7-under 65 in the second round of the Ballantine's Championship, securing the leading position against his rivals.
The 26-year-old Austrian professional golf player displayed an amazing performance on Friday, at the difficult site of the Blackstone Golf Club, Icheon in Seoul, South Korea.
Wiesberger delivered his second highest score in the European Tour event. His best score, 62, was made at the Allianz Golf Open de Lyon, the Challenge Tour event in 2010.
"Today I couldn't really do anything wrong really," said Wiesberger on Friday eve. "It felt like everything was going in the right direction".
"I'm just trying to hit a lot of greens and try and hit on the right spots, which is important here. It's a tricky golf course when you hit into the wrong places".
The two-time professional winner started the round early in the morning, on Thursday. He scored an equal par score by shooting four birdies, two bogeys and one double-bogey.
He was unable to impress his fans in the first round. However, he improved his performance and competed well for the leading position in the second round, on Friday.
Wiesberger proved his golfing skills by playing a bogey-free round in unfavourable weather conditions.
He was playing safe, and did not have any difficulty scoring. He amazed other professional golf players as well.
He fired four birdies on the front nine holes of the Blackstone Golf Club and reached the top of the leaderboard.
He further added three birdies on the back nine holes. More importantly, he ended the second round by hitting a long yard massive birdie on the 18th hole.
"Last year I always kind of hung in there," said Wiesberger. "So I feel comfortable up there. It's different for you if you go in the last day as the leader, but we'll see how it goes. We'll see how tomorrow goes, and I'll just take it easy and hope that
I have a nice day tomorrow".
He is playing his rookie season at the European Tour, and showing his full commitment to the mega tour. If he manages to pile up a good score, he has a chance to find a spot on top of the leaderboard.
