Ballantine's Championship: Y.E. Yang finishes on the 15th position, fails to keep the trophy in South Korea
South Korean leader, YE Yang, was unable to finish in the top-10, at the Ballantine's Championship.
The 40-year-old professional golf player displayed an average performance on his home course, Blackstone Golf Club, Icheon in Seoul, South Korea.
Before the tournament, he was aiming high and planning to dominate the leaderboard by scoring well. However, he failed to achieve his goal and finished for the 15th position at the end of the day.
His poor score in the first and average performance in the second round was the reason for him losing his hope.
Yang shot a 2-over par on Thursday and a 1-under 71 on Friday. He was facing trouble in both the rounds and was uncompetitive throughout.
From the third round, Yang strived throughout the whole day and managed to score a 6-under 66. He shot four birdies and an eagle on the front nine holes of the Blackstone Golf Club.
"On the front nine I don't think my game was bad but my putting could have been better," Yang said.
"But as I went into the last nine holes my feel for the shots came back. I could find my rhythm and my swings and my game picked up. I felt good about them and then my putting picked up as well".
After displaying a good performance on the front nine holes, his progress to make scores was slow on the back nine. He mostly remained at par, shot only one-birdie and a bogey.
On Sunday, he had ample chances to finish in the top-5 players of the leaderboard. He tried hard and scored six birdies.
However, he also carded two devastating bogeys on the par-3 7th and the 13th hole. These two over-par shots took his position down and he only added a -2 to the final scores.
His final score was a 7-under 281, as he finished 11 strokes behind the leader Bernd Wiesberger, who scored an 18-under 270.
Yang was unable to be impressive on his home course and faced several challenges. Moreover, the South Korean also failed to keep the winning trophy and money within his country.
